Boyd @ Pilot Point: Halftime

Woohoo, finally back online, and it’s 29-12 at the half!

Pilot Point has come to play, sharp out of the gate, with four touchdowns in the first half, three thanks to Mason Guthrie. Guthrie took off for more than 50 yards after a screen from quarterback Jeshua Price on the opening drive, and then Price found Guthrie in the end zone on the second drive for a 14-0 lead.

Colton Lyon is still proving dangerous on the ground. He’s scored Boyd’s only two touchdowns tonight. At least he’s not running for 140-something yards tonight like last November.

Boyd got on the board in the second quarter on a run from Lyon, but the Bearcats responded with a pass to Austin Balderas in the end zone from 28 yards out.

Lyon ran in one more time after escaping nearly all the Bearcats, but Guthrie ran in from one yard out with less than 10 seconds left in the half to put us where we are now, 29-22. Price passed to Austin Trinklein for the extra two points.

So far, so good for Pilot Point. The O-line has gotten a pair of holding calls that could have back tracked the drives, but is holding up and allowing Price to spread the ball around as well as run it up and down the field. Price has only thrown four incompletions and no picks yet.

Also around the district, Aubrey is down 30-20 at halftime during its home game with Grandview. Grandview scored on the first play of the game, but the Chaparrals responded with Justin Griffin touchdown. Grandview scored a field goal, but Aubrey’s QB, James Wurster ran in a touchdown to put them up 13-10.

Grandview made a long pass to go up 16-13 (they missed the extra point), and then scored again on a long run to go up 22-13. Aubrey scored on a pass from Wurster, but remained down 23-20.

Grandview made another long pass to put them up 30-20 at the half.

Seven minutes left in the half. Keep your fingers crossed for another spurt of stable Internet for another post on the action!
