The Tioga Bulldogs fall sports teams had outstanding seasons on the gridiron and on the hardwood, with multiple student-athletes from both squads being named to their respective all-district teams.
The Bulldogs football program finished as district champions, with 28 selections for the 6-2A Division I All-District Team, five players selected as honorable mentions and 20 players earning academic alldistrict honors.
The Bulldogs’ first place finish resulted in Zach Birdwell, athletic director and head football coach, and his staff being recognized as their district’s Coaching Staff of the Year.
Tioga’s list of honorees was headlined by senior athlete Johnny “On-the-Spot” Dorpinghaus, who was named the district’s Most Valuable Player, and senior offensive lineman J.D. Quintin, who was named the district's Lineman of the Year.
Dorpinghaus finished the season as the program’s first 1,000-yard receiver, with 1,593 total yards, 59 tackles and 15 total touchdowns, while Quintin manned trenches of the Bulldogs’ offense that averaged 52 points and over 500 yards a game in district.
The duo was joined on first team all-district offense by quarterback Rocky Urich (Sr.), running back Gage Anderson (Sr.), offensive lineman Cooper Fisher (Jr.), and receivers Austin Norwood (Sr.), Greeley McAden and Sam Mott (Sr.).
Urich finished the year with 3,878 total yards and 42 total touchdowns, and Anderson totaled over 700 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Norwood compiled 1,280 total yards and 18 touchdowns, and Mott had over 400 yards receiving and six touchdowns.
The Bulldogs defense had eight selections for first team all-district— linebackers Landon Bingham (Sr.), Jaxton Dejernett (So.) and Dorpinghaus; defensive backs Slade Babbitt (Sr.), Jake David (So.), Justin Arrington (So.) and Anderson; and Mott at defensive end.
David had 135 total tackles, four interceptions and one fumble recovery, while Bingham and Dejernett combined for 149 tackles.
Babbitt and Arrington both collected three interceptions, and Mott led the front with 3.5 sacks and eight QB hurries.
Second team all-district offense selections for the Bulldogs were offensive linemen—Jesus Molina (Sr.), Ricky Norris (Jr.), Bryson Bradley (Fr.) and Jesus Enriquez (Fr.)—and David at receiver.
Second team all-district defense selections were defensive linemen Cason Serna (Sr.) and Caleb Moncrief (Jr.); defensive backs Hayden Roberts (Jr.) and Jaxson Hurst (So.); running back Jonathan Hernandez (Jr.); and linebackers Kyson Kirkland (So.) and Raul Chavez (So.).
Honorable mentions include—defensive backs Wesley Wilmon (Jr.) and Caden Downing (Jr.); Babbitt at receiver; and Fisher and Jonathan at defensive line.
All aforementioned players along with seniors Julian Hernandez (Sr.), Tyson Monk (Sr.) and Hunter Cassell (Jr.) earned academic all-district honors.
The Lady Bulldogs finished third in their district and had four selections for the 10-2A Region II All-District Team, three honorable mentions and 12 members named academic all-district.
Liberio Kaitlyn Garrison (Sr.) and middle Kennedy Slay (So.) headlined the Lady Bulldogs all-district selections as first team selections.
Garrison led the defense with 129 digs in district play, and Slay led the offense with 136 kills.
Setter Ella Norwood (So.) and middle Kyndall Whitley (So.) were named second team all-district.
Norwood collected 127 assists, and Whitley finished second on the team with 88 kills.
Honorable mentions include—defensive specialist Kenzee Powers (Jr.), setter Sadie Bates (Fr.) and outside hitter Kaylee Evans (Sr.).
All previously mentioned players along with Ali Patterson (Fr.), Emerson Moore (Fr.), Bella Dennis (So.), Trinity Mandrell (So.) and team manager Hannah Kent, earned academic all-district honors.
Garrison and Evans were also named academic all-state honorable mentions.
