Angela Mathews has been selected from the final pool of three candidates as Pilot Point’s new chief of police.
Mathews comes from Jarrell Police Department where she was assistant police chief for a year after spending 17 years on the force in her home town of Killeen.
“We are thrilled to welcome Angela Mathews as the new Chief of Police,” City Manager Britt Lusk said in a press release. “Her extensive experience, exceptional leadership, and commitment to fostering safety and trust make her the perfect choice to lead our police department and serve Pilot Point.”
The release also shares a bit about Mathews’ standout qualities including the implementation of community policing initiatives, securing grants for officer wellness, equipment and hiring initiatives, and receiving several honors during her tenure at both prior organizations.
“Angela’s leadership style is defined by transparency, collaboration, and steadfast commitment to community engagement,” the release says. “[Her] visions align seamlessly with the values and goals of Pilot Point … and will strengthen the police department and advance the safety and wellbeing of our residents.”
