FM 1385 closure through early February

TxDOT will be closing all lanes of FM 1385 on the north side of the U.S. 380 intersection through early February as part of an ongoing corridor improvement project, weather permitting.

Winter Birding at Isle du Bois

The Isle du Bois Unit, 100 PW 4137 in Pilot Point will offer Winter Birding, 2 p.m. Saturday, Lost Pines Amphitheater; Dutch Oven Cooking, 10 a.m. Jan. 18, Pavilion 2 in Day Use Area; and Winter Wildlife, 2 p.m. Jan. 18, Nature Center.

Coding, cookbook clubs at PP library

The Pilot Point Community Library at 324 S. Washington St. will host Game Day Saturday, 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday; Coding Club (ages 9-12), 4 p.m. Thursday; Cookbook Club: A Place at the Table by Kelly Minter, 2 p.m. Jan. 17; and movie screening: “Despicable Me 4,” 11 a.m. Jan. 18.

Senior Social Hour at Aubrey library

The Aubrey Area Library at 226 Countryside Drive will have Meditation Hour, 5:30 p.m. Tuesday; Senior Social Hour, 11:30 a.m. Wednesday; and Lego Club, 12:30 p.m. Jan. 17.

The Family and Friends Puzzle Contest has been rescheduled to 10:30 a.m. Jan. 25 because of inclement weather.

PP Master Thoroughfare plans open house

Community members are invited to review the draft Master Thoroughfare Plan at a come-and-go event from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 102 E. Main St. Members of the project team will be available to discuss any questions or refinements.

Prayer Shawl Ministry to begin at PPFUMC

GDT to hold auditions for ‘Seussical’

The Garage Door Theater will have auditions from 6-8 p.m. Jan. 19 and 20 in the showroom for “Seussical the Musical” at 110 S. Washington St. Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. March 21-22, 28-29 and 2:30 p.m. March 23 and 30.

CRPD to offer citizens police academy

The Cross Roads Police Department will offer a Citizens Police Academy from 6-8 p.m. Wednesdays starting Jan. 29 at the Cross Roads Police Department, 1401 FM 424.

Tioga FFA, FCCLA to have dinner, auction

The Tioga FFA and FCCLA will have the annual BBQ dinner and auction at 5 p.m. Feb. 1 at the Tioga High School cafeteria.

Pre-tickets are $15 or $20 at the door. The auction will begin at 6 p.m. To-go plates will also be available.

Texas Farm Bureau opens scholarships

Texas Farm Bureau has opened scholarship applications for high school seniors and college students.

Application details and eligibility information can be found at txfb.us/scholarships25. Deadline to apply is March 3.

NETPA scholarship deadline information

The North & East Texas Press Association, in conjunction with the Texas Press Association, will award two $1,500 scholarships to eligible candidates. Applicants must be from the geographic area served by NETPA and have a declared major in journalism/ communications/photojournalism with preference given to print majors.
