Ranch Cities residents can let someone do the work cleaning up for the New Year or upcoming spring for them with help from Abbott’s Haul Off & Transport.

The local company, owned and operated by Tyler Abbott, offers the convenience of a roll-off while doing the work of filling it for the customer.

“Junk removal is the main thing I do, but I’ve gotten into tree work and have been doing a little bit of house demolition as well,” Abbott said. “I’ve been in business for the last four years, and last year, I hired help around September. We’re staying so busy that I’m at a point where I’ll need another truck and trailer.”

Abbott charges $150 base and quotes additional cost based on volume, accessibility and location.

“I don’t add a fuel charge to local areas,” Abbott said. “There is a standard rate for junk removed throughout professional companies, and they charge by cubic yardage, basically the size of a washer or dryer. I try to stay right under them by about $25. I’ve got to charge for my labor, but a lot of my customers try to do curbside, which drops the price.”

Junk removal, Abbott explained, can be everything from clearing out a garage to demolishing a deck or other outdoor fixture or emptying a home.

“We go out, you tell me what you need gone and I haul it off,” Abbott said. “In Pilot Point, I’ve done five or six huge home cleanouts.”

He explained his two most frequent jobs and seasons revolve around storm season for garages and early summer when people gear up for renovation projects.

“If you’ve got your garage full of junk, you have to worry about your cars being hit with hail and debris,” Abbott said. “Right around when the tax return season hits, a lot of people start thinking about projects they want to do, decks they want removed or added and need to clear space.”

His service additionally avoids the issue many residents face regarding rolloffs, which are often controlled under franchise agreements with the waste management company the city uses for its trash services.

“If I were to drop a rolloff, I get a warning to get it out and the city would fine you for not using their franchise company,” Abbott said. “I get around that because I put a trailer out which has wheels on it and is not technically a roll-off.”
