Environment Day at Johnson Branch

The Ray Roberts Lake State Park Johnson Branch Unit, 100 PW 4153 in Valley View will have The Environment Around Us, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Nature Center; Hot Cocoa with a Ranger, 11 a.m. Feb. 1, Kid Fish Pond; Soaring to New Heights, 1 p.m. Feb. 8, Nature Center; and Card Making: Wildlife Love, 11 a.m. Feb. 15, Nature Center.

The Isle du Bois Unit, 100 PW 4137 in Pilot Point will offer Dutch Oven Cooking, 10 a.m. Feb. 15, Pavilion 2 in Day Use Area, and Nature Center Exploration Day, 10:30 a.m. Feb. 22, Nature Center.

VITA to offer tax prep at PP library

The Pilot Point Community Library at 324 S. Washington St. will host Adult Craft: Vision Boards, 2 p.m. Friday; Game Day Saturday, 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday; and The Page Turners Book Club (ages 8-12), 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Income tax preparation will be offered through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program Thursdays through April 10 from 4-6:30 p.m. for households earning less than $64,000/year. This is a free program, and no appointment is needed.

Storytime, puzzle contest at Aubrey library

The Aubrey Area Library at 226 Countryside Drive will have Lego Club (ages 4-14), 4:30 p.m. Friday; Winter Storytime (all ages), 10:30 a.m. Saturday; Family and Friends Puzzle Contest, 10:30 a.m. Saturday; and Meditation Hour (ages 16 and up), 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Recipes will be accepted for the Aubrey Sweethearts Recipe book through Jan. 31.

American Legion collects items

The Pilot Point Unit 550 of the American Legion Auxiliary is collecting items to send to troops for Valentine’s Day. Requested items include personal hygiene, individually wrapped snacks, socks, foot powder, wipes, etc. No chocolate or aerosol cans are allowed.

Items can be dropped off at the American Legion, 905 Foundation Drive.

Council seats available in Pilot Point

Community members interested in filing for an available Pilot Point council seat can submit an application to City Secretary Lenette Cox through Feb. 14 at 102 E. Main St. Election Day will be May 3.

Providence Village has volunteer positions

The town of Providence Village has openings for the following volunteer positions: economic development corporation, board of adjustment and board of adjustment alternates. If interested and eligible to serve, apply at pvtx.gov/190/Boards-Commissions.

Blood drive scheduled at PPHS

The Pilot Point Student Council invites all community members to participate in the upcoming blood drive from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday in the high school library at 1300 N. Washington Street.

Tioga FFA, FCCLA to hold dinner, auction

The Tioga FFA and FCCLA will have the annual BBQ dinner and auction at 5 p.m. Feb. 1 at the Tioga High School cafeteria.

Pre-tickets are $15 or $20 at the door. The auction will begin at 6 p.m. To-go plates will also be available.

The 2025 Pilot Point FFA local show has been rescheduled to 8 a.m. Feb. 8. A rabbit show will be held starting at 9 a.m. Feb. 22 at the PPISD ag barn.

Daddy Daughter Dance planned in Tioga

The Tioga varsity cheerleaders will sponsor a Daddy Daughter Dance from 6-8 p.m. Feb. 8 in the Tioga High School cafeteria. All ages are welcome. Cost will be $20 per dad/daughter with $5 for each additional daughter.

Texas Farm Bureau opens scholarships

Texas Farm Bureau has opened scholarship applications for high school seniors and college students.

NETPA scholarship deadline information

The North & East Texas Press Association, in conjunction with the Texas Press Association, will award two $1,500 scholarships to eligible candidates. Applicants must be from the geographic area served by NETPA and have a declared major in journalism/communications/ photojournalism with preference given to print majors.

Lovepacs requests donations, drivers

Lovepacs is requesting the following donations: cereal, canned pasta, chili, spaghetti sauce (canned), tuna, peanut butter, jelly (plastic jars), ramen, mac and cheese, soup, instant oatmeal packets, microwave popcorn, snacks and granola bars.

Area drop-off sites include Brookshire Brothers and Martin General Store in Pilot Point; Patrick Nolin Farmers Insurance Agency and The Peanut Gallery in Aubrey; and One Mane Place in Krugerville.

Delivery drivers are needed every Wednesday morning for about an hour as weekend bags are delivered to schools in the Aubrey, Pilot Point and 380 Corridor. For more information, email [email protected].

Drivers needed for Meals on Wheels

Volunteer drivers are needed to deliver Meals on Wheels one day a week Monday-Friday for 2 to 2 1/2 hours from 10:15 a.m.-12:45 p.m. in Aubrey, Krugerville and Pilot Point. For more information, call Cindy Faris at 972-838-3259.
