Cocoa with a Ranger at Johnson Branch

The Ray Roberts Lake State Park Johnson Branch Unit, 100 PW 4153 in Valley View will have Hot Cocoa with a Ranger, 11 a.m. Saturday, Kid Fish Pond; Soaring to New Heights, 1 p.m. Feb. 8, Nature Center; and Card Making: Wildlife Love, 11 a.m. Feb. 15, Nature Center.

The Isle du Bois Unit, 100 PW 4137 in Pilot Point will offer Nature Center Exploration Day, 10:30 a.m. Feb. 22, Nature Center, and Career Day, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. March 1.

Gardening series to start at PP library

The Pilot Point Community Library at 324 S. Washington St. will start a gardening series with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension at 2 p.m. Wednesdays from Feb. 12-March 26. Game Day will be held from 9:30 a.m.1:30 p.m. Feb. 8.

Income tax preparation is available through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program from 4-6:30 p.m. Thursdays through April 10 for households earning less than $64,000/year. This is a free program, and no appointment is needed.

Sweethearts Recipe Book at Aubrey library

The Aubrey Area Library at 226 Countryside Drive will accept recipes for the Aubrey Sweethearts Recipe Book through Friday.

Senior Saturday Bingo will be held on the first Saturday of every month at 10:30 a.m. for ages 50 and up. Medicare with Wes will be at noon Wednesday followed by the Cat Club Book Club (ages 9-13) at 4:30 p.m.

HOPE Food, Clothing Ministry needs peanut butter

HOPE Food and Clothing Ministry is needing medium sized jars of peanut butter. Donations can be dropped off at Tim Holland State Farm, 5315 U.S. 377, or Casey & Co., 202 S. Main St. in Aubrey.

American Legion collects items

The Pilot Point Unit 550 of the American Legion Auxiliary is collecting items to send to troops for Valentine’s Day. Requested items include personal hygiene, individually wrapped snacks, socks, foot powder, wipes, etc. No chocolate or aerosol cans are allowed.

Items can be dropped off at the American Legion, 905 Foundation Drive.

Council seats available in Pilot Point

Community members interested in filing for an available Pilot Point council seat can submit an application to City Secretary Lenette Cox through Feb. 14 at 102 E. Main St. Election Day will be May 3.

Providence Village has volunteer positions

AHS to present ‘Willy Wonka’

Aubrey High School will present “Willy Wonka” at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday with a matinee at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at 510 Spring Hil Road.

Tioga FFA, FCCLA to hold dinner, auction

The Tioga FFA and FCCLA will have the annual BBQ dinner and auction at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Tioga High School cafeteria.

Pre-tickets are $15 or $20 at the door. The auction will begin at 6 p.m. To-go plates will also be available.

Tic-Tac-Toe Leap in February

The 2nd annual Tic-Tac-Toe Leap will be held during the month of February. Participants can pick up a game card at Martin General Store, 101 S. Jefferson St.

Variety Show auditions to be held in PP

The Pilot Point Coffee House will have auditions for the Variety Show at 6 p.m. Tuesday and Feb. 11 at 110 W. Main St. with the show set for Feb. 21.

Coffee, Connect, Cultivate with Aubrey Chamber

Fine Arts Program to start spring classes

The spring 2025 Pilot Point Fine Arts Program will begin classes the second week of February with a showcase performance planned for 3 p.m. April 26.

Available classes include choir (ages 8-12), 5 p.m. Sundays; handbells (ages 8-12), 4 p.m. Mondays; music and art (ages 3-5), 4 p.m. Thursdays; and music and art (ages 6-7), 4 p.m. Thursdays at Pilot Point First United Methodist Church, 217 S. Church St.

Texas Farm Bureau has opened scholarship applications for high school seniors and college students.

NETPA scholarship deadline information

The North & East Texas Press Association, in conjunction with the Texas Press Association, will award two $1,500 scholarships to eligible candidates. Applicants must be from the geographic area served by NETPA and have a declared major in journalism/ communications/photojournalism with preference given to print majors.
