The filing deadline for the general election closed Feb. 14, and the local May 3 ballots have largely taken shape.
There will be three cities and towns in the Ranch Cities area participating in the local spring election.
Pilot Point City Council
There are three contested races in the Pilot Point City Council general election.
Incumbent Mayor Elisa Beasley faces challenger Chad Major, who has held the Place 5 seat, in a rematch of the special election in 2022 that featured their names on the ballot.
Incumbent Mayor Pro Tem Andrew Ambrosio, who holds the Place 6 seat, faces three challengers—Steven Birkelbach, Blake Hampton and former council member Brian Ingram.
Place 4 is a race between Kelley Burgess and Brian Murrell, who would both be newcomers to the Pilot Point City Council.
Major's Place 5 council seat will be on the May 3 ballot.
As of Wednesday morning, no one had filed for the seat; the deadline is 5 p.m. Friday.
Krugerville
Although two of the three incumbents who filed to retain their seats in Krugerville are running unopposed, the third drew a challenger.
Incumbents Mayor Pro Tem Kristen Kromer and council member Rodney Cagle will automatically keep their spots on the council.
Incumbent Shane Kading will face Bryan Firth in the May election.
Providence Village
In Providence Village, both seats up for election will feature the incumbent facing a challenger.
Klayton Rutherford, who is currently in Place 3, faces Jill Cannon.
Jeff Doramus, who holds the Place 5 seat, drew competition from David Vartian for his seat.
Uncontested races
Aubrey ISD President Jim Milacek and trustee Trey Duncan drew no opposition and will keep their seats on the school board.
The Aubrey City Council will also not need to spend money on an election this year, with Mayor Chris Rich running unopposed, as did newcomer Mike Browning to the seat that Erin Allen has filled.
The Cross Roads Town Council will stay the same, with incumbents Steve Zuczek, Chris Paus and Ron King running without opposition as well.
Pilot Point ISD will not be on the ballot this spring, as the two seats will be filled by uncontested candidates—incumbent Mandy Kirby for Place 3 and Lora Renfro to fill Coby Chandler's Place 4 seat.
Tioga ISD will feature some fresh faces who ran unopposed. Billy Smith, James Hurt and Nicholus Oliver will fill Seat 1, Seat 4 and the unexpired Seat 6 term, respectively.
Also in Tioga, the only people who filed to run for the three spots were incumbent Mayor Craig Jezek, incumbent Galen Jones for Place 2 and incumbent William Fritcher.
