LETTERS TO THE EDITOR OPINION

Beware of dogs in Pilot Point

Be forewarned before you come to Pilot Point, there are vicious pit bulls running loose in the vicinity of W. Division, S. Hill, S. Morrison, and W. Grove.

Three times recently 3 viciously aggressive pit bulls have been in our yard in the 300 block of S. Hill St.

I have informed the city police of each incident.

I was told the police spoke with the dogs' owner each time yet nothing was done.

On Saturday, February 1st, two of the pit bulls attacked me in my driveway when I returned home.

Lucky for me, I had armed myself with a Derringer pistol before going out.

I pulled my pistol out and shot at the dogs.

They backed off about 30 ft., looked at each other as if they were thinking in pack mentality about recharging me, so I shot at them again and they left.

I called the police again and they basically made a welfare check on the dog owner.

They advised the dog owner to get some neighborhood boys to build a fence to keep the dogs contained.

They advised me to buy a bigger pistol, the Glock 43X 9 mm. to protect myself in my own yard.

The dog owner told the police and me they didn't care if I shoot the dogs.

A good neighbor would keep their dogs in their own yard or leashed.

That is the city code, but the dog owner says they can't do that.

So, my advice to the townspeople of Pilot Point and any visitors is if you plan on walking about our town, arm yourself with a big gun to stay safe. I have to in my own yard.
