OPINION
I often am asked about what’s going on in the area, and this week, my thoughts are running all over the place.
Here are a few of those random thoughts about what’s happening in our area.
If you look up my neighborhood in the news, you’ll see that the Department of Housing and Urban Development charged the Providence Homeowners Association with racial discrimination.
On Tuesday, the HOA announced that the Department of Justice did not move forward with the lawsuit.
I’m not going to comment on the allegations made in the lawsuit.
Now that there’s a resolution, I hope we can all move forward.
The Pilot Point Educational Foundation gala on Saturday was a great opportunity to connect with people who wanted to show their support for one of the most important institutions in any community—our schools.
It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces mixed with many new ones—Dr. David Lee of Pilot Point Dentistry and Pilot Point Police Chief Angela Mathews among them.
I love seeing people who have not been plugged into an organization come to be part of an event like that.
The spring election season is upon us.
I’m going to maintain my position that I’m not going to tell you who to vote for.
However, I am going to encourage you, if you live in Pilot Point, Krugerville or Providence Village, to go beyond social media to engage with the candidates, to become informed about who your options are and to make an educated choice when you step into the ballot box.
The people behind the dais do have a direct impact on your life, and our ability to participate in the democratic process of voting is one that should be something we value and take seriously.
There are resources available at both www.votetexas. gov and www.votedenton. gov to help you register to vote, if needed, and to know when and where to go to cast your vote.
There have been a number of extracurricular activities that our area students have participated in—UIL One Act Play, band competitions, National Beta events and art competitions, to name a few.
We will keep working to highlight those good things our students have done to help them get the recognition they deserve.
Spring is so full as everything about the area seems to come back to life after the depth of winter.
We’ll keep watching and reporting on what we see.
