Aubrey wins fourth district championship
Track season is picking up the pace for schools in the Ranch Cities, with Aubrey, Tioga and Pilot Point all competing at their respective district track meets April 2 and 3.
Aubrey hosted the district track meet at Chaparral Memorial Stadium and witnessed the Chaps capturing their fourth consecutive district championship.
“The biggest deal with track is that sometimes people forget it’s a team sport, and everybody did their job to score and to get us where we needed to be for that district championship,” Aubrey head boys track coach Don Spaulding said. “Even fifth and sixth place points count, and that's what was great about it.”
The Chaps relay team led the way, winning gold in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:19.41, silver in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 42.33 seconds, and bronze in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 1:31.22.
