Windell Dwayne Mitchell

Windell Dwayne Mitchell, 75, of Denton passed away February 2, 2025, in Southlake, Texas. He was born February 24, 1949, in Gainesville, Texas.

Dwayne grew up and attended school in Pilot Point, excelling in football and other sports. After graduation, he attended the University of North Texas and along with life-long friend, David Lynch, played on the same football team as the future Hall of Fame defensive lineman, “Mean” Joe Greene. He and David recounted many exciting stories of that shared experience. Dwayne later owned and operated one of the first and most successful cabinet shops in the Pilot Point area. He expressed great hope in the promise of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.

He was preceded in death by his father, Windell P. Mitchell, in 2008.

He is survived by his mother, Laverne West/Brown of Denton, daughters and sons-in-law Carrie and Judd Vier of Aledo, Christie and Justin Wells of McKinney, Cybil and Zach Grigsby of Pilot Point, eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Dwayne is also survived by his sister Teresa Mitchell of Sherman, and brother and sister-in-law Greg and Lynda Mitchell of Pilot Point.

Memorial services will be held (officiated by pastor Judd Vier) at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Mustang Baptist Church, 13335 Mustang Road, Pilot Point, TX 76258.
