Bobbie Francis Mays

Bobbie Francis Mays

Bobbie Francis Mays passed away peacefully on February 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on February 14, 1931, in Little Elm, Texas, to Marvin O. and Mary Byrd Rogers Allen, Bobbie grew up in a lively household, where she lovingly helped her older siblings raise their families until she married. She was known for her quick wit, unwavering kindness, and ability to bring her family’s heritage to life through the many stories and cherished memories she shared throughout her 93 years.

Bobbie’s greatest joy was her family. She married the love of her life, James A. Mays, in 1948, and together they built a beautiful life, raising four children. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, blessed with eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and four great-greatgrandchildren.

Bobbie worked alongside her dear friend, Virginia Morrow, at the North Texas Bookstore for many years. After retirement, she found great joy traveling the world with her beloved brother, Richard Allen, creating new memories and embracing adventure.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Orr and Mary Byrd Rogers Allen; her brothers, Jack Allen, John Christian, and Richard Allen; her sisters, Betty-Joe Jordan, Jeanne Walker, Patsy Standerfer, Sue Hodges, and Lou Self; her husband, James A. Mays; her children, Michael Joe, John Patrick, and Deborah Susan; and her great-grandson, Conner Montgomery.

Bobbie is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Bounds, and husband, Bill Bounds of Sanger, Texas, along with a loving extended family and many dear friends.

Bobbie’s life will be lovingly celebrated on her birthday, February 14, 2025. A visitation will begin at 1 p.m., followed by a service at 2 p.m. at Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas. She will be laid to rest at Green Valley Cemetery in Aubrey, Texas. Family and friends are warmly invited to join in honoring her memory.

Her great-grandchildren, Cullen Bounds, Jake Lewis, Hayden Palmer, Riley Palmer, Michael Montgomery, Parker Last, Aidan Jezek and Jaxson Last, will serve as pallbearers.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff of Brookdale Senior Living, Denton North, for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Bobbie’s honor. Your generosity in supporting a meaningful cause would be a beautiful tribute to her memory.
